Cristiano Ronaldo voted Man-United greatest player

Cristiano Ronaldo was voted the greatest player of Manchester United's 25-year Premier League stay by the Red Devils fans in May, 2018. He received 25% of the votes ahead of second place Ryan Giggs, who received 21 per cent and Paul Scholes who came in third with 17 per cent of the votes. The recognition was exactly the type of fuel the rumour mills needed to generate headlines that said Ronaldo was considering a move back to Manchester United. It was just a mere week before Real Madrid defeated Liverpool 3-1 in the final of the 2018 UEFA Champions League when Ronaldo added fuel to the fire after he suggested that he had a decision to make in coming days. He later rebutted and said his statement was taken out of context, although his coach Zinedine Zidane resigned. Many have suggested that it may not be such a bad idea for CR7 to finish his career at Man-U to ride off into the sunset where he won three league titles, FA Cup, two League Cups, Champions League and the FIFA Club World Cup. Their rationale is that he will be under less pressure because there is not much left for him to accomplish in England. There are others who are not sold on that rationale. They say that the same scenario can be used for Ronaldo playing with Real Madrid where he won almost everything and is the King of Europe football. The problem with the later scenario is that coach Zidane has resigned after his team won the 2018 UEFA Champions League and more changes are expected. My take is Ronaldo has proven that he makes beneficial decisions and will do what he has to do. The concern is that history may repeat itself at world cup Russia and any repeat of what occurred at World Cup Germany with Wayne Rooney can influence his decision. He is playing against Spain which has his Real Madrid teammates in the first Group B match and only time will tell .

However Ronaldo does have admirable traits. After winning his FIFA Ballon d’Or he revealed to Juventus legend Alessandro Del Piero that he had passed up offers from clubs like Juventus and Real Madrid when he signed with Manchester United in 2003. He credits Manchester United former manager Sir Alex Fergusson as his mentor and his agent Jorge Mendes as the one who convinced him to sign with United.

"He (Joe) has always guided me in the right direction. Of course, I remember he talked also about Juventus….Real Madrid and many others.....“The club that offered me the best conditions was Manchester United. It was a dream because as a kid I always wanted to play in the this opportunity and for that I have to thank Sir Alex Ferguson and obviously Jorge helped me to arrive there." said Ronaldo Premier League. "United gave me
