GS United Commitment to Excellence
Dave Sidhu Interview 2012 (Cont’d) Q: Is recruitment of Caribbean players based on talent, winning, or community values? A: Our home base has always been Scarborough, so the talent and strong Caribbean community are very evident. But not all players can balance the two and become successful with our club. The Caribbean players that have come along and stayed with GS United have understood that in order to be successful, you require love for the game and love for each other. It is this bond between professionalism and family that has led the players into being successful on the field and within the community.
SSR Q: Would GS have survived without Caribbean players?
A: Without a doubt GS would survive. The organization isn’t solely based on a player or a certain segment of a community; it’s the unsung heroes such as the fans that drive countless hours and sponsors that support because of the love of the game. GS United would definitely have had a more difficult time without the support of the Caribbean community and thus might not have been as successful.
